Ed Sheeran has taken a break in music since the end of last year, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any creative juice.
The 29-year-old singer spends his time trying out painting on canvas and making his own signed works, with just a few self-made colours and his keen eye.
After collecting his portfolio of paintings, Ed decided to offer one of his works for sale for the first time, all for a good cause, because he is auctioning it off for charity.
The colored part went to Ed Shiran: The auction takes place in Suffolk and is called Dab 2, after the father of the star John.
Since his youth he calls his father Dab and decides to auction him a painting. John describes it as the visual equivalent of one of his inspiring songs.
When he talked about his new hobby, Ed had already spoken: I painted on the canvas every day for 30 days. It was a lot of fun. It was just like Jackson Pollock.
The singer made an abstract work of art in the colours of the house (Photo: PA).
I bought some paint for my house and I applied it by just clicking on it, I just do my art and I like to do it, he explained. That makes me glad no one else has to judge.
Ed said: Creativity is an amazing thing that makes people happy. You do it and it’s fun.
The painting will be part of Ed Shiran: The exhibition Made in Suffolk took place in Ipswich. Ed’s parents, who worked with the child protection organization GeeWizz, organized an auction to raise money for the restoration of the playground for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The funds raised will also be used to support St. John’s. Elizabeth Hospice’s Zest, a charity founded to help young people and young people with advanced and incurable diseases.
In addition to the painting, Ed also gave his childhood Lego, handwritten lyrics for his hit Perfect and a ticket for his first concert at the Royal British Legion in Framlingham, Suffolk.
He is not the only known person who participated in the auction, because David Beckham, Kylie Minogue and Usian Bolt also donated objects and experiences to the sale.
It works now and is ready to run for up to 8 hours. November for online candidates.
The auction, which runs until the 8th. November, is now also open to online candidates.
Ed indeed spent time not only with the brush, but also with his parental duties, because he and his wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first child together in August.
Ed shared the good news with Instagram, as he told the fans: Hello! Hello! A little message from me, because I have some personal news I’d like to share with you… Last week Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran with the help of an extraordinary obstetric team.
