NATA or National Aptitude Test in Architecture is one of the popular exams in India that gives admission to undergraduate architecture courses. It is a national level entrance exam held by the Council of Architecture (CoA) every year in different parts of the country. Launched under the provisions of the CoA Rules, 1983 and published in the Gazette of India, as part of the minimum standards for architectural education since 2006, the NATA exam encourages bright minds to study architecture. The main purpose of this exam is to train professionals with drawing skills and the ability to improve infrastructure. On the basis of this examination, future students can apply for admission to the School of Architecture and obtain their place. Thousands of candidates from different parts of the country had to participate in this examination, but only a few of them could pass. Eligibility for NATAExaminations

To register for the NATA exam, candidates must meet the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation by meeting the qualification criteria listed below:

A student wishing to take the NATA exam must meet a number of academic requirements. The criteria established by COA are as follows. Qualifying Exam :

  • Students must pass the 10+2 exam with a minimum score of 50% at a recognized school (CBSE, RBSE, etc).
  • Candidates who have passed the 10+3 exam, scored at least 50% and hold a valid certificate of completion.

Qualified specialists are needed:

  • Candidates must have completed the twelfth grade. Students must have completed the first year of mathematics (as a compulsory subject), chemistry and physics.
  • The ones who finished on the 12th. Class 3 students must study the above subjects to sit for the NATA exam.
  • Candidates who take and pass the Diploma Examination in Mathematics (this is a compulsory subject).

Points needed to pass the NATA exam :

  • If candidates score 49.9% on the qualifying exam, the score cannot be rounded and only counts as 49.9%.
  • Candidates must achieve an overall score of at least 50% to sit for the NATA examination.
  • There is a reduction in points for SC/ST/PWD students.

There is no specific age limit to register for the NATA exam. Applicants must comply with any age restrictions imposed by the relevant licensing authority.

  • For International Status Students – There are no specific admission requirements for international status students.
  • For students with international status – the requirements remain the same as for Indian citizens. There are also no separate qualification requirements for students with international status.

Bow To be admitted to the B.Arch training, the candidates must also meet the prescribed conditions laid down by the relevant admission authorities.   • For admission to a public college for a B.Arch degree, candidates must pass a recognized architectural aptitude test (NATA National Level Entrance Exam or equivalent).
  • Candidates must score at least 50% in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics on the entrance exam.
  • Students seeking a 10+3 degree must achieve 50% in math (as a prerequisite).
  • A candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC or any other category of students should approach the Admission Committee for Reservation Programs while applying for admission.
  • At no stage of the B.Arch. course is secondary enrolment permitted.
  • Moreover, the admission criteria may differ from one institution to another.

NATAExamination regulations and timetable

The NATA audit is set by COA and is conducted twice a year in two phases. Candidates may apply for both levels. The main advantage of this exam is that candidates can improve their score if they get a lower score. The grades obtained at the first attempt are valid for one year. The NATA questionnaire consists of 125 questions on various topics and areas, with a total score of 200 points. Candidates will have 180 minutes to ask questions. Successful candidates will be admitted to the B.Planning and B.Arch courses. Details of the NATA test system This exam is divided into two parts, Part A and Part B, and the syllabus remains the same for both parts. The questionnaire will consist of three blocks, namely drawing, general skills and physics, chemistry and mathematics.

  3. Physics – electromagnetic induction, electric current, atoms and nuclei, electronic devices, magnetism and matter, electrostatics, optics, dual nature of radiation and matter, alternating currents, etc.
  4. Chemistry – basic concepts of chemistry, chemical bonding, equilibrium, chemical thermodynamics, ecological chemistry, atomic structure, state of matter, organic chemistry, etc.
  5. General skills – Sets and relations, subsets, power sets, union, intersection, difference of sets, ideas of sets, addition, Venn diagram, De Morgan’s laws, equivalence relation, etc.

NATA Examination fee

To register for the NATA exam, candidates must pay the fees charged by the competent agency. Reimbursements may vary by category. Candidates can pay the prescribed registration fee online through credit card, debit card and online banking. The cost of the NATA check is INR 2,000, including the service charge levied by the bank.
