Loose Women to feature all-male panel for Mental Health Awareness Week

Loose Women is arguably one of the least gender-equal television shows on British television, but that won’t stop the show’s producers from hosting a panel of four men for its Mental Health Awareness Week special scheduled to air on Monday. To be fair, one of the men on the panel will be a former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, but that doesn’t seem to have done much to assuage anger from viewers who are questioning why the show’s three female hosts were deemed unsuitable to speak on the subject.

For Mental Health Awareness week, ITV has chosen to feature an all-male panel and the cast of Loose Women to discuss their experiences with mental health during a special episode. Is this a step backwards for women’s mental health? While it is the first time in the shows history that it features an all-male panel, the show has not had a positive reputation regarding mental health issues in the past.

Loose Women will soon turn into Loose Men for one day with a men’s panel in celebration of Mental Health Week.

A special episode of the ITV show is presented by Richard Madeley and the judges are dancer Jordan Banjo, TV judge Robert Rinder and singer and actor Martin Kemp.

The episode airs on May 13 and follows the first all-male panel in the show’s 21-year history, which aired last November in honor of International Men’s Day.

The show was presented by JLS star Marvin Hames, who was joined by Love Island storyteller Ian Stirling, singer Ronan Keating and radio presenter Roman Kemp.

The following song is part of Loose Women’s Stand By Your Men campaign, which encourages men to open up and ask for help when needed.

After the success of the first Loose Men show, I jumped at the chance to present the next show with both hands, says Richard.

It’s no secret that men have a harder time talking about their emotions than women. So I’m curious to see what happens when we open up to what usually scares us.

Panelists will talk about the resources they use to take care of their own mental health, and the topics of the day.

While this is not Robert’s first time on the show, it will be his first time as a presenter. He admitted that he was looking forward to his next television appearance.

I have been through many court cases in my life, but even though I have been invited many times, nothing can prepare me to be a free man in a man’s office!!!, he said.

I look forward to discussing the issues we care about with Richard, Jordan and Martin and supporting the Loose Women Stand By Your Men campaign during Mental Health Week.

This is the second time the show has been owned by men.

Sally Shelford, editor of Loose Women, said: We look forward to welcoming the next four brave men to the table of Loose Women for a day.

By supporting our Stand By Your Men campaign, Richard, Robert, Martin and Jordan are helping to shed light on such an important issue by giving men the chance to seek help if they are in trouble.

And of course, our venerable Loose Men will discuss some classic Loose topics to keep us laughing during lunch.

Loose Men will be released on the 13th. May on ITV.
