Long-Delayed Rick Grimes Movie Will Be “Worth the Wait”

One of the sad conclusions to the TV series “The Walking Dead” is that Rick Grimes, the protagonist (and the series itself), will never be revived for a third season. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a movie based on a popular TV series, right? That’s exactly what Sony Pictures Entertainment is hoping to make happen.

After the first season of “The Walking Dead” was a massive success, fans were curious to see how the zombie apocalypse would play out in season 2. At the end of the season, we saw Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) get brutally killed by the Governor (David Morrissey), but he was brought back to life when a machine invented by the scientist Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) called the “Resurrection” was used on him. This season, Grimes will be leading a group of survivors in a massive battle against the Governor and his army of zombies. “Worth the Wait” will follow the survivors as they struggle to survive in the aftermath.

“The Walking Dead” has been around for nearly a decade, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new season for the comic book series. But now, the series returns after a five year break and the first episode has been pushed back to an undetermined date, with the season set to go into production in the fall. According to AMC, the show will return in early 2017.. Read more about rick grimes movie release date and let us know what you think.

The Walking Dead Movie will be “worth the wait,” according to author Robert Kirkman, two years after a mysterious Comic-Con teaser revealed Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes would only be seen in cinemas. Following Lincoln’s departure from the main television series in November 2018, Walking Dead Universe chief creative officer Scott Gimple announced the long-awaited spin-off film as an AMC Original before switching to a theatrical exclusive under Universal Pictures at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. With Rick still gone two years later in the TWD universe, Kirkman quips that The Walking Dead Movie will be released “certainly before 2032.”

“I wish that there were more updates. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes,” Kirkman said about the Rick Grimes movie during his pre-recorded Robert Kirkman@Home Q&A at virtual Comic-Con@Home 2021. “It’s entirely possible that there are some details that are coming out around Comic-Con that I just don’t know we’re allowed to talk about yet, so I’m being a good boy and I’m not gonna spoil anything. But I will say there’s exciting stuff happening behind the scenes and I am as frustrated as you guys are that we have not been able to reveal everything to you and talk about it nonstop.”

During its three different TWD Universe events on Saturday, AMC Networks gave no updates on The Walking Dead Movie. During a presentation for The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Gimple shot down reports that Lincoln might appear in Season 2 of the AMC spin-off, which will premiere new episodes this autumn.

“Andrew Lincoln is amazing, and I miss seeing him in character as Rick Grimes. I can’t wait till we start shooting and then this thing comes out; it’s going to be amazing “Kirkman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Gimple, is making his feature film writing debut. “Everyone is putting in a lot of effort to make this the best it can be. All I have to say is that we don’t want a terrible Rick Grimes film. We all want a great Rick Grimes film, therefore everyone behind the scenes is working hard to ensure that when it is released, it will be worth the wait and will be the unique, character-building Rick Grimes adventure that everyone has hoped for.”

Kirkman went on to say: “We’re not going to hurry this, and we’ll take our time to make sure it’s right. That’s all there is to know about what’s going on behind the scenes. You’ll see when it eventually comes out, when we release trailers and everything. ‘That’s precisely what we wanted,’ you’ll say. I’m pleased they took their time.’”

The film, which follows Rick following his tragic helicopter flight out from The Walking Dead, was previously characterized by Kirkman as “very much a Rick tale” centered on the role Lincoln has played since 2010.

“It’ll be great to be able to concentrate more on Rick as a character and do more with him. I believe it will be a completely different type of Walking Dead narrative, which I am really excited about “Kirkman had said earlier this year. “When you’re working on a project like this, you have to make sure that it makes sense as a film. This isn’t simply a continuation of what you’ve come to anticipate from the program. This is going to be a completely different Rick Grimes, but it will still be the Rick Grimes that we all know and love.”

Lincoln said in April that he had signed on to a number of projects, including The Walking Dead Movie, which will feature Pollyanna McIntosh as Anne, the survivor previously known as Jadis of the Scavengers. Gale Anne Hurd, a veteran franchise producer, has joined the project from AMC Studios and Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures.
