James GordonComing 2 America has just received a new official poster in anticipation of its release on Amazon Prime Video next month. The originally planned sequel, Arrival in America, was supposed to be released in theaters last year, but the first one was cancelled due to the pandemic. Since then, Amazon has secured the rights to make an exclusive debut on Prime, with a release date of Coming 2 America on the 5th. March is set.
The previously published Coming 2 America teaser poster gave us a glimpse of Prince Akeem Joffer’s return to New York, with Eddie Murphy taking over the iconic role. Amazon’s new poster shows the entire cast, including several Coming to America stars and many newcomers to the franchise. You can consult it below.

The Second America brings back Eddie Murphy as Akeem Joffer, Arsenio Hall as Semmi, Shari Hadley as Lisa, John Amos as Cleo McDowell, Paul Bates as Osh, Royal Servant, Louis Anderson as Mauritius, Vanessa Bell Calloway as Imani Izzi and James Earl Jones as King Jeff Joffer. Murphy and Hall will also reprise some of their many roles from the original film, including barber band and Sexy Chocolate singer Randy Watson.
The new sequel also stars Jermaine Fowler as Lavelle, Akeem’s son, Leslie Jones as Lavelle’s mother, Tracy Morgan as Lavelle’s uncle, Kiki Lane as Akeem and Lisa’s daughter, Princess Mika, Wesley Snipes as General Izzy, Teyana Taylor as General Izzy’s sidekick, and even Rick Ross in his own role.
Three decades after the events of Coming to America, Akeem (Murphy) has just been crowned the new king of the lush and regal land of Zamunda. After discovering that he has a long-lost son still living in New York, Akeem and his trusted confidant Semmi (Hall) return to the United States to find the young man (Fowler) and woo him as crown prince. Along the way he will meet familiar faces that he may have seen on Akim’s first visit to the country.
Craig Brewer, who previously worked with Murphy on the success of Netflix’s Dolemite Is My Name, is directing Coming 2 America based on a screenplay by Kenya Barris, Barry W. Blaustein and David Sheffield. Justin Keenew also contributed to this story. Kevin Meacher is producing with Eddie Murphy, executive producers are Brian Oliver, Bradley Fisher, Valery Ahn, Kenyan Barris, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, Michelle Imperato Stabile and Andy Berman. Ruth E. Carter made the costumes we see on the poster and trailer.
Coming 2 America is scheduled for release on the 5th. March 2021 programmed exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The official poster for the new film was also released in December and gives a much better idea of what we can expect from the sequel. Many fans are looking forward to the return of Sexy Chocolate just as eagerly as they are to the return of Akeem and Semmi to New York. The new poster has been received from Amazon Prime.
