Sony and Marvel Studios have finally released the official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, one day after the leaked video. Not only was the trailer entertaining, amazing, and thrilling, but it was also chock-full with No Way Home Easter eggs.

THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD.

Easter Eggs & References in the Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

Spider-Man: No Way Home, from Sony, is set to be the Web-most Head’s ambitious on-screen journey ever. A fantastic plot based on the comics, a Marvel team-up including the Sorcerer Supreme and our favorite web-slinger, and iconic Spider-Man villains all come together to create the MCU’s Sinister Six. Is there anything more I can say? It’ll be a lot of fun!

Okay, enough with the hoopla; let’s get right to the point and look at the No Way Home Easter Eggs.

Mysterio is to blame for everything.

The opening minutes of the video show the aftermath of Spider-Man: Far From Home’s conclusion, in which J. Jonah Jameson exposed Peter Parker’s identity. It seems to be having a detrimental impact on everyone in Peter’s life, with people treating the Webhead as if he were a superstar. It is for this reason that he seeks out Dr. Strange’s assistance in erasing his identity… But we’ll get back to it eventually.

The Washington Post’s The Daily Bugle

MJ may be seen reading the real-life New York Post, which isn’t very interesting on its own, but the Daily Bugle’s logo and layout were obviously based by the Post’s in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. Both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage seem to include The Daily Bugle as a supporting character. Does this imply that Venom will be linked to the MCU in the future? Will a J. Jonah Jameson solo film be made? Whatever the situation may be, we’re happy to see the venerable journal making a return.

Ditko, Steve

The name Steve Ditko may be seen as graffiti on the wall behind Peter and MJ in the trailer’s opening image.

Both Spider-Man and Doctor Strange were co-created by Ditko, and now they’re finally sharing the screen in one of the MCU’s biggest blockbusters. But, to be perfectly honest, Ditko would have despised this for a variety of reasons. Especially considering how little money he made on all the Spidey and Strange goods over the years.

Was it Matt Murdock, or was it someone else?

In the teaser, we see Peter being questioned by the cops about Mysterio’s death. Many fans believe the guy wearing a white shirt with folded sleeves is Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, from Netflix’s famous series Daredevil. It’s not implausible, however, since the character’s connection with No Way Home has long been reported.

Just One More Day…

We previously discussed Spidey reaching out to Dr. Strange for assistance in erasing his identity, but it seems that there may be serious repercussions.

Strange seems to be doing well for himself after Avengers: Endgame. He does, however, seem to be a bit too eager to assist Peter by performing a spell that either just erases the world’s knowledge of Peter as Spider-Man, or, as Peter puts it, makes it so Mysterio never goes public with his identity. This is strongly influenced by the controversial Spider-Man storyline One More Day in the comics.

After Aunt May is wounded in Marvel’s One More Day comic, Spider-Man begs assistance to preserve her life. He meets the demon Mephisto, who promises to spare her life in exchange for Spider-marriage. Man’s Spider-Man and his wife, Mary Jane Watson, come to an agreement, and this chapter of their history is deleted, thus making them never married.

Into the Madness of the Multiverse

In the teaser, Peter has second thoughts at the last minute, preventing Strange from casting the magic that causes the universe to merge. This may, however, be a ruse. Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, who we last saw exploring the Darkhold at the conclusion of WandaVision, may be the true cause for the multiverse’s convergence. Perhaps the death of He Who Remains at the hands of Sylvie in Marvel’s Loki’s last episode.

Spider-Man in a Black Suit

Our friendly local wall-crawler in the black and gold outfit may be seen in the No Way Home trailer. Even though it was just a little film, seeing it in action is very thrilling. Stark technology and Dr. Strange’s magical relic seem to be merged into the outfit. Spidey in his black and gold costume, wielding what seems to be a magical web-shooter, was also shown in one of the advertising images with the phrase “Magic with a thwip.”

Is there going to be a Sinister Six?

One of the greatest No Way Home Easter Eggs was seeing the original Spider-Man adversaries from earlier flicks. Even if it was done subtly, there’s no doubting that all of these monsters will ultimately appear. We witness bursts of lightning, a huge sand construction, the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bomb, and, last but not least, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus from Sony’s Spider-Man 2 in the No Way Home trailer.

It’s such a joy to watch one of the greatest superhero film villains make such a stunning return, and fans can’t wait to see more of the legendary villain. Also, did you hear the lizard scream and the Green Goblin laugh?

What happened to Andrew and Tobey?

This isn’t quite a No Way Home Easter Egg, but there’s still no news on when we’ll see the two share the screen alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. According to rumors, Garfield and Mcguire will appear in the film during a post-credits scene. However, rumors are just that: rumors. At least for the time being.

I’m both relieved and disappointed that Tobey and Andrew aren’t in the trailer. I figured they wouldn’t be in the first trailer, but maybe in the final trailer they’ll reveal them. However, I’d want to get a peek of them in the future trailers, and I’d like to… pic.twitter.com/I2JicJgLvD #SpiderManNoWayHomeTrailer
