The CCA gave its top two teams, Clemson and Notre Dame, a day off for the title game, but the rest of the competition had a clear idea of who deserved third place.
North Carolina hasn’t defeated a Top 10 opponent since Sam Howell was four years old, and the season was marked by heavy defeats against the states of Florida and Virginia. But when the tar heels click, they’re just as beautiful as anyone else. And then Saturday, it hit me.
The combination of Javonte Williams and Michael Carter, who set an FBS record with 544 yards and five TDs on the ground, embarrassed the Miami defense. Howell scored with a pass TD, a run TD and a catch TD. Dyami Brown got 167 meters, although in hindsight it was a bit more.
It is interesting to ask how things would have gone for the Tar Heels if they had been a little more consistent this season. They had a chance to catch up with FSU and Virginia on their last shots, but they’d already dug themselves a hole too deep. Against Notre Dame they played hard in the first half, but then got lost. If Saturday would prove anything, it was that the hype around the Tar Heels was justified, even if it was a bit premature. Next year, as the Irish celebrate their independence and Trevor Lawrence moves on to the NFL, many predictors will wonder if anyone else is finally ready to fight for the top position in the conference. — David Hale.

Max Duggan takes advantage of a change of ownership at Louisiana Tech for the first time and hurries on to the next trip. Then, in the second quarter, he threw a 76-yard pass to Quentin Johnston for the touchdown.
What was going to be a busy last weekend of the regular season in the Big 12 became much calmer after the games in Oklahoma-West Virginia and Texas-Kansas were interrupted by COWID-19.
With two games to go, Oklahoma State were dominated by a severely understaffed Baylor side, while TCU were for Louisiana Tech University. The Horned Frogs have had a quiet season and have won five of their last six games.

Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Purdue did not play because of coronavirus problems, but the Buckeyes will still play in the Big Ten after the conference changed the requirements for the number of games to qualify. It makes sense, given the strange season – the Buckeyes have taken the spot, win or lose, and they are by far the best team in the conference.
Northwestern and Iowa remain in third and fourth place with victories over Illinois and Wisconsin respectively. In recent weeks, Iowa seemed to be the best team in the Big Ten West, but it’s Northwestern that has the advantage of a face-to-face victory. Penn State made its most remarkable debut in sixth place with a win over Michigan State (the third straight win), finishing just behind Minnesota, which defeated Nebraska despite a decimated field. — Harry Lyles, Jr.

Kedon Slovis threw for 344 yards and five touchdowns as the Trojans recovered from a deficit to defeat their rival across town.
Only two places are non-negotiable: USC, undefeated in first place, and Arizona, undefeated in twelfth place. Even in a regular season that lasted only six weeks, the parity that has plagued the conference lately (although some say it is more interesting) has resurfaced. The Trojans will receive Washington in the title game on Friday, unless the Huskies can play, in which case Oregon will replace them. Colorado will replace USC if the Trojans can’t compete. — Kyle Bonagura

With 23 seconds left in the game, Cade York scored a 57-yard goal to win the game for the Gators, while Florida missed a 51-yard goal to send the game to OT.
For a long time I thought Florida deserved a better grade than Texas A&M, but I should have known better. Somehow I thought the Gators were the better team, even though the Aggies won the game one by one – at home and only by a field goal.
They got the first Heisman trophy for Kyle Trask, a quality offensive line, weapons for the receivers and, perhaps, the most talented school soccer player in the tight game Kyle Pitts.
Of course I thought the defense would eventually bounce back like LSU did last season.
But on Saturday, it all fell apart. The LSU Tigers, with a rebound percentage of .500, scored 37 points and beat Florida without two stars (they gave up Marshall Jr.’s reception in Terrace and Aric Gilbert’s close game). Newcomer Max Johnson could also play as quarterback in Florida in the second line. We don’t even have to talk about the shoe throwing incident; it was already a flawed team for Marco Wilson’s poor judgment.
So it’s time to give Texas A&M the respect it probably deserves in the first place. Although the attack as a whole is not flashy, she has an unpleasant attack line and passes the ball well, and Kellen Mond plays the quarterback role just enough. And the defense has jurisdiction over most of it. Texas A&M is a strong team and Florida is not. -Alex Scarborough

Grayson McCall’s 23-yard touchdown pass to Javon Highley with less than a minute left in the game tied the Chanticleers’ season record.
It was the quietest week in the classification of Group 5. Cincinnati remains in first place despite having dropped out of the game against Tulsa this week due to coronavirus problems. South Carolina remains in second place after a short victory over Troy to end a perfectly regular season. BYU bounced back from last week’s loss to the Chanticleers with a 28-14 victory over San Diego State.
This week is the first year for the state of San Jose, which went 6-0 on Friday with a victory against Nevada. The Spartans jumped on Buffalo (who easily won 56-7 against a bad Akron team), Marshall, Liberty and App State to finish in 7th place. — Harry Lyles, Jr.
