The Boston Celtics are struggling this season, so fans were hoping to get a good performance from the team in their matchup against the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately, the team played poorly and lost to the Raptors. In fact, one of the Celtics’ stars, Jayson Tatum, left the game due to an injury he suffered when he collided with Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.
The Boston Celtics lost 110-100 to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday evening (Feb 24, 2019) at home. The loss came at a price, however, as both the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were injured after colliding with each other out on the parquet. The two were going for the rebound when Brown lost his footing and subsequently tripped Tatum as both players went for the ball. Both players were sent to the floor by the impact of the collision and Brown was up quickly, but Tatum stayed down for a few moments before rising to his feet. Brown was given a technical foul on the play. Unfortunately, the Celtics’ two young studs will now have to sit

BOSTON – While the Boston Celtics suffered a 129-119 defeat against the Portland Trail Blazers Sunday night at TD Garden, there was much more concern about the health of star guard Jaylen Brown. He limped off the field with no weight on his right leg after an awkward collision with teammate and star player Jason Tatum with 40.4 seconds left in the game.
Brown, who had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes before the injury, lay on the floor in obvious pain for a moment, then got up, immediately jumped off the court and returned to the locker room.
I have no information on them, Celtics coach Brad Stevens said of Brown and Tatum, noting only that both players were examined by team doctors after the game.
However, Tatum spoke to the media after the fight and said he felt fine.
I should be fine, said Tatum, who scored 33 points in 37 minutes after scoring a career-high 60 points in Friday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, adding that he hopes Brown is fine. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

Late injuries to Brown and Tatum overshadowed a very entertaining game in which both teams hit 50% or more from the three-point line. Portland (36-28), which has won four games in a row, got 33 points from C.J. McCollum and 26 from Damian Lillard.
In the fourth quarter, however, there were two moments that tipped the scales in Portland’s favor: a penalty on Tristan Thompson on what looked like a good shot with 7:27 remaining in the game and a penalty on Marcus Smart with 1:56 remaining in the game after a groin kick by Jusuf Nurkic.
Stevens said after the game that he had been told he had not challenged Thompson in time – something referee Sean Wright, the team’s captain in Sunday’s game, confirmed in a post-game interview with a Pool reporter.
Thompson touched the ball during the play, and it was considered on the cylinder at that time, said Wright, who explained why that decision was made.
The protesting team must call a legal timeout and indicate that a coach should be called. By the time Coach Stevens called a timeout, the ball was in play and Portland had possession, so we couldn’t give Boston a timeout.
As for Smart, Wright said his contact with Nurkic (who was penalized for an offensive foul on that play) was considered unsportsmanlike, resulting in Smart’s sixth suspension of his career.
It was a physical match, Stevens said. I haven’t seen the recording yet. I’m going to watch the replay and then we’re going to fix this internally. But it’s obviously a big game at an important time.
Meanwhile, Boston guard Evan Fournier, who has been struggling since returning from a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, scored 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting, including 5-for-7 from three-point range.
Fournier, who has been on the field since returning on the 23rd. April, who took just eight shots (including four three-pointers) in five games (8-for-37 overall and 4-for-21 from three-point range), said he thought he suffered a concussion that affected his vision and depth perception after the positive diagnosis.
Honestly, I felt really weird, Fournier said. I was going to stop talking about it so it would help me, but it’s like I have a concussion. It’s a little better now, but in the beginning the bright lights bothered my eyes and I saw blurry.
Everything happened too fast for me. It still is. Some things go better, but sometimes I really struggle to concentrate and my eyes have trouble focusing on one thing. I can’t see depth very well now. But I went to a specialist and she gave me some exercises and I hope it gets better.
Fournier, who was acquired by the Celtics (34-31) at the trade deadline using a trade exception that arose after Gordon Hayward was contracted by the Charlotte Hornets in the offseason, said that while he’s not 100 percent, being physically fit means being on the field with his new teammates.
That’s the problem, Fournier said. As for that COVID, the truth is that doctors and everyone else really have no idea. This is so new. But what is clear to me is that a third of the people who went through COVID also had these symptoms. So this is not an isolated case. But like I said, it will get better with time. Some people have lost the taste and smell of food. For me, it’s just my conscience and stuff. That’s part of the feeling.
But it will get better. It gets a little better. But I’ll keep working. I can’t just go away and not play or not train because I don’t feel good mentally. If my body is available, I must be available.
