James GordonIt’s no secret that WandaVision viewers will witness a big reveal when Monica Rambo (Teyonah Parris) meets a space engineer many expect to be Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four, played by fan favorite John Krasinski. Episode 6, New Halloween – Spooktacular, ends with Monica and FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) racing out of Westview, New Jersey, while the fate of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) reaches out to keep her late husband, Vision (Paul Bettany), safe. When astrophysicist Dr. Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) is stuck in a bubble with special forces agents, Monica and Jimmy barely have time to change clothes while on their way to Monica’s contact, who is waiting for them just over the ridge.
As WandaVision enters the television era of the 2010s in episode 7 – Wanda becomes a full-fledged modern family in a clip from Thursday’s episode – there is speculation that Krasinski’s potential will be revealed in the simulated episode, which is based in part on his work sitcom The Office, meaning WandaVision will work with Spider-Man director Jon Watts before the reboot of The Fantastic Four.
I loved television, and I watched too much of Dick Van Dyke’s show, and I loved Lucy and Bewitched and all the rest. Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige has already spoken to Empire about the current influences behind WandaVision. When the future star of Captain Marvel 2 was asked about theories that Monica’s contact was Reed Richards or some other Marvel character that seems familiar to comic book readers, Parris laughed: I can’t wait to see how you’re going to react when you find out who the space engineer is.
Krasinski and his real-life wife, actress Emily Blunt, have long dreamed of playing Reed and Susan Richards in the Fantastic Four. When asked if he wanted to play a stretch superhero named Mister Fantastic, Krasinski replied: No, I can’t: I’d love to. I think being part of the World of Wonders would be incredible anyway, and the fact that people would even consider me on that level would be incredible.
