Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks did not have the best start to the season. They are currently 8-11 and 13th in the Western Conference. Luka Doncic plays at the NBA level, but despite his play, the Mavericks are still struggling. Something has to change if they want to make it to the postseason.
The Mavericks could opt for a trade to help Luka Doncic get to the playoffs. They have a generational talent and should use the franchise to make the most of his years. Luka Doncic should compete with the best of the best. Several players in the league could help the Mavericks improve their results, and they could be acquired via trade. Here are some of the best trade options for the Dallas Mavericks.
Kevin Love

Dallas Mavericks Get Kevin Love
The Cleveland Cavaliers get: Josh Richardson, James Johnson…
Kevin Love is a solid attacker who can extend the field at a high level. Love is a seasoned veteran who has already won a championship. During his time with LeBron James, Love learned to play third option and thrive alongside other dominant strikers like Kyrie Irving. He would be the right option to help this Mavericks team because he can bring leadership and stability to the team. Kevin Love would also benefit from the play of Luka Doncic by simply sharing the court. Love’s stats for the season are not very good, but they should rise once he is fully recovered and plays more games throughout the season.
Josh Richardson could be a strong wing for the Cavaliers, with an elite defense and normal intervals, while James Johnson is a contract waiting to expire. Kevin Love is currently receiving over $30 million for the 2020-21 season and will receive a similar amount over the next two years. The Riders could trade Love for some assets, as he does not fit into their young core and has a huge contract for the amount of production he normally brings. A trade for James Johnson would help them sort things out, while Josh Richardson could be a player who fits their list and supports the players.
Four. Blake Griffin.
Seasonal statistics: 13.1 BCP, 5.9 BCP, 4.1 BCP, 0.7 BCP, 0.1 BCP.

Dallas Mavericks pick up Blake Griffin
The Detroit Pistons get: Josh Richardson, James Johnson, Dwight Powell,…
Blake Griffin has come a long way from his days as an elite player with the Los Angeles Clippers. Numerous injuries have contributed to the decline of his athletic ability, but despite this, Griffin can still be an effective player for his opponents. Blake Griffin currently draws 34.4% from the three-point line with 6.6 attempts per game, which is solid efficiency at a high volume. Griffin is also an underrated setter. At this point in his career, he could be a top player in a limited role on a playoff team by providing inside defense and space. Blake Griffin has been in the playoffs many times and knows what to do.
The Detroit Pistons are getting some good money for Blake Griffin. James Johnson helps them save money as his contract expires, while Josh Richardson could be a good defensive replacement alongside Jerry Grant. Richardson can be traded at any time next season when his contract expires. Dwight Powell is locked in for a few years and is a good backup. The Pistons need to rebuild, so trading Blake Griffin seems obvious.
3. Eric Bledsoe.
Seasonal statistics: 13.9 BCP, 3.8 BCP, 3.6 BCP, 0.9 BCP, 0.3 BCP.
About Mark J. Rebilas – USA Sports Monday.
Dallas Mavericks pick up Eric Bledsoe
Josh Richardson, Maxi Kleber, receiver for the New Orleans Pelicans, 2024 Mavericks, first-round draft pick.
Eric Bledsoe is a dynamic goalie who is an elite defender. Bledsoe is at his best when he goes to the rim, but he has a solid 41.4% from 3PT range in 5.4 attempts per game this year. For the Dallas Mavericks, Eric Bledsoe can be a solid option at any guard position because defensively he can stop the opponent’s best player. Offensively, he is known for finding his own shot and can animate the Dallas Mavericks offense. The 3PT freshman can play in the Luka Doncic perimeter attack and is also a replacement when Luka Doncic is waiting for the ball.
The New Orleans Pelicans were going to get Josh Richardson, who would give them some length at the wing position. Maxi Kleber is a big, strong man who could be a long distance runner and shoots 47.1% from 3PT range. Kleber could give the Pelicans a different look and perhaps allow a small ball with shooters around Zion Williamson. The key for the Pelicans here is to free up minutes for Nikhil Alexander-Walker and Kiera Lewis, and that comes with a deal with Bledsoe. The Pelicans will also have a first-round pick in 2024, but it will likely be of low value because the Mavericks will do well with Luka Doncic at the helm.
2. Aaron Gordon.
Seasonal statistics: 13.8 BCP, 7.3 BCP, 4.3 BCP, 0.7 BCP, 0.9 BCP.

Dallas Mavericks receives: Aaron Gordon
Orlando Magic receivers: Josh Richardson, Jaylen Brunson, 2024 Mavericks first round, future second round.
Aaron Gordon is playing a solid season for the Orlando Magic, but the team itself is stuck in 11th place with a record of 8-11. Aaron Gordon is a guard who can take up space: he is athletic enough to work the perimeter, but he can also be at guard on the inside. Gordon could be a solid defender for the Dallas Mavericks, and his ground clearance could be crucial for their two stars. The Aaron Gordon trade could give Orlando Magic a soft rebuild this season. They could make a better pick for the 2021 NBA Draft and then come back strong next season with the injured Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz.
Orlando Magic have an elite guard in Josh Richardson who fits their identity as a defensive-oriented team. Jalen Brunson will be a solid playmaker who can give them some solid minutes this year, while Markelle Fultz will come out and step up as a backup guard. The two future picks will not be expensive, but a first round pick is always good for any team.
1) DeMar DeRozan
Seasonal statistics: 20.7 PPG, 5.1 OB/MIN, 7.0 OB/MIN, 0.9 OB/MIN, 0.5 PSU.

Dallas Mavericks pick up DeMar DeRozan
San Antonio receivers Josh Richardson, Jalen Brunson, Dwight Powell, 2024 Mavericks first round, future second round.
DeMar DeRozan has had an All-Star season for the San Antonio Spurs this season. However, his contract has expired and the Spurs may decide to trade DeRozan to avoid losing him in Free Agency for nothing. At this point, a team like the Dallas Mavericks may be in talks to offer a commercial package. DeRozan has playoff experience and could be a good second choice behind Luka Doncic. With his new willingness to hit the 3PT, DeRozan has become an even more lethal offensive weapon. DeRozan could also relieve Luka Doncic of the pressure he puts on his teammates, as DeRozan is a great playmaker. In fact, DeRozan is a perfect fit for the Dallas Mavericks.
San Antonio Athletics will get some solid players in exchange for their star. Gregg Popovich is known for turning elite defenders into skilled offensive players: With the Spurs, Richardson could become elite under Popovich’s leadership. Dwight Powell would essentially be part of a salary-cap deal, and Jalen Brunson could be the spark on the bench for the Spurs. In fact, both teams would be a perfect fit for San Antonio, as they are used to getting experienced players late in the first round. It would be a great package for DeRozan in the future.
