Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish is impressed by the way Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips have managed to make progress amid the club’s injury crisis, but he believes Jurgen Klopp could try to strengthen his defensive skills during the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions have lost Virgil van Dyck, Fabinho and Joe Gomez to an injury in recent weeks and Joel Matip is now the only centre-back in Klopp’s senior national team to work hard this winter, both at home and in Europe.

Jordan Henderson and Jeanie Winaldum would play alongside Matip next weekend in a match against Lester, but Dalglish was encouraged by the recent performances of the young duo Williams and Phillips.

Nobody can intervene, but at 19 Williams did well with Atalanta, he told the Liverpudlian Echo.

He was there and he stood up and cleaned the first title and made sure it was him, and Nat Phillips handled the Enfield game well.

It remains to be seen if they are ready for the long term, but Nat was on credit in Germany last season and everything went very well, so maybe he is a little more experienced.

Like I said, you have two options. They’ll want to play.

It might not be the best time for them because the next game against Lester is difficult, but Jürgen makes most of his decisions and I have no doubt he will make them right.

Calls have been made for a big day for Reds in January – Dayot Upamecano would be at the top of the wish list – and Mr. Dalglish is confident that Mrs. Klopp will make the right decision.

I trust the manager is making the right decision – he’s already done it! added the legendary former Liverpool striker and manager.

It is very unfortunate, the transfer window is closed and we have suffered serious injuries, and there are no people like Thiago yet, but we rely on Jürgen.

There is no problem because he will make the right decision – two boys, Williams and Phillips, did very well in the games they played.

The manager has a choice between these two options, but if it is possible to obtain a free transfer, he may think this is the best way.

But whatever he decides, it’s the best solution for Liverpool.
