Since its inception in 2006, the X-Games have been a staple of winter sports programming. Held every year in Aspen, Colorado, the X-Games take place over six days and includes over 70 action sports. The event features sporting events in BMX, bmx, skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding.
Skateboarding has become one of the most popular activities for people who are into trying new things. It is a very fun sport that everyone can do, regardless of age. It can be done on almost any city street, as no skateboarding pads or ramps are needed. Most people also use helmets while doing skateboarding, because it is a sport that is very dangerous.

This year, skateboarding makes its Olympic debut, with Nyjah Huston and the men’s street category kicking things off in Tokyo.
The qualifying heats (starting Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET) and final (11:25 p.m. ET) will be broadcast on USA and NBC in the United States. NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app also provide live and on-demand coverage of every run (dedicated skateboarding coverage).

Men’s Street Skateboarding Preview at the Olympics
In the World Skate rankings, Nyjah Huston of the United States is presently placed first. Yuto Horigome and Sora Shirai of Japan, Kelvin Hoefler of Brazil, Gustavo Ribeiro of Portugal, and Aurelien Giraud of France are the other top foreign gold medal contenders to watch. Jagger Eaton of the United States placed fourth in the World Skate World Championships in Rome, so he’ll be another American to keep an eye on.
Horigome is coming off a World Championship victory against Huston, so this should be a fiercely contested Olympic debut for the sport. Something to think about? Horigome is looking forward to having the support of his hometown fans.
Horigome stated, “I already have an idea of the techniques I really want to nail at the Olympics.” “I have a lot of them, and I’m going to show them off. I’ve competed on the road before, but with the Olympics in Tokyo, the support I get will be enormous. I’m going to have this sensation when I hear the shouts that I’m going to perform this even better.”
Because skateboarding is new to the Olympics, here’s a quick rundown of the regulations, courtesy of the Washington Post: “In street skateboarding, participants negotiate a street-like course including stairwells, handrails, curbs, benches, walls, and slopes, utilizing these obstacles to execute tricks scored by a five-judge panel. Skaters execute two 45-second runs and five tricks in each round, with the judges grading each run and trick on a scale of zero to ten. The best and lowest scores for each run and trick are eliminated, and the remaining three values are averaged to one decimal place to get the final score.”
