Danny DeVito to Write Penguin Story for DC Comics

The movie legend is no stranger to big-screen superheroes. His character, the Penguin, was a foe of Batman for four movies and was the first villain on the silver screen to have a catchphrase. The fates of those characters have changed since then, but Mr. DeVito remains. It has been reported that he has been offered the opportunity to write a story for a Penguin story for DC Comics.

The Penguin, one of Batman’s greatest villains, is about to join the DC Comics universe. Why Penguin? Because Penguin is a very unique character for DC Comics, and he’s also a character well-suited to a post-modernist adaptation by Danny DeVito. The Penguin is a weird character indeed. He lives in a mansion, is a millionaire and owns a pet alligator named King. Danny’s Penguin will be a remarkable article of yours and a chance to showcase your writing skills.

Penguin, the character created by Batman’s nemesis, the Penguin, will be the central character in a series of Batman comic books targeting a young audience. DC Comics will publish the first book under the Penguin imprint, Chasing Gotham, in April, which will tell the story of Penguin’s first meeting with Batman and the early days of the Dark Knight Detective.

Danny DeVito is returning to the role of the Penguin in DC Comics, but not in the manner you would think. It was announced over the weekend that DeVito would write a tale for the forthcoming Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant, an anthology comic honoring Batman’s rogues gallery. This will be DeVito’s first foray into the world of comic writing, and it’s likely to center on The Penguin, whom the actor memorably played in live-action in 1992’s Batman Returns. DeVito’s tale in the Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant will be drawn by Dan Mora and will serve as a “anniversary celebration” for The Penguin, who originally debuted in Detective Comics #58 in December 1941, according to the official solicitation.

DeVito’s tale will be published with pieces by Wes Craig, G. Willow Wilson, Joshua Williamson, Stephanie Phillips, Dan Watters, and Mairghread Scott in the Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant. Emma Rios, Khary Randolph, Jill Thompson, Riccardo Federici, and Christian Ward will be among the artists included in the anthology edition.

This revelation comes as DeVito’s Penguin continues to be adored by fans, with speculations circulating that he may reprise his character in the forthcoming The Flash film with fellow Batman Returns actor Michael Keaton. While there’s no way of knowing whether that will be the case, DeVito has expressed interest in seeing Keaton return to the role.

“I believe it’s a fantastic series,” DeVito said in an interview last year. “I think it’s a beautiful narrative, and it’s a lot of fun and a lot of energy, and I liked Oswald Cobblepot, and I love Tim Burton.” “We’ve collaborated on four or five films. I’m looking forward to whatever we’re going to do together, and I can’t wait for him to come up with the next one.”
